If you listen to any F.M .Radio blaring Maithili Songs then you will realise how far it has deteriorated in such a short span of time.You will feel disgusted with the obscene lyrics and the general cacophony brought to you in the name of Music.The irony , however is that these kinds of music sells so they are in demand unlike the traditional classical Maithili music.
Those in the business would tell you that this is imperative to survive.In fact this has halted the overwhelming influence of all pervasive Bhojpuri music.This means that Maithili music can survive if it keeps competing with Bhojpuri music.The more catchy and vulgar is the lyrics the more chances it has to be of commercially successful.Masses accept this kind of music only.
